Red Freedom Roses in Your Wedding

January 8th, 2013

The Red Freedom variety of roses is the true red rose. You won’t be able to find these blossoming in the wild; this flower is carefully cultivated and grown by Ecuadorian rose growers to achieve this unique, blood red color.  Compared to other roses, this rose has higher petal count and a large head size, making it perfect for a lavish bouquet or as a single long stemmed gift for the woman you love.

For many years, this flower variety has become the standard for florists worldwide.  This flower can be cultivated in almost any corner of the world.  Although this variety has traditionally been grown in European and North American countries many farms from around the world already cultivate this variety.  Flower farms in the Philippines, Vietnam, Ecuador, Columbia, Israel, and many African nations now farm this variety commercially.

Besides a romantic gift to a loved one, these flowers are typically used in weddings.  Consider carrying a bridal bouquet made out of nothing but mature Red Freedom blooms. The vibrant shade of its petals becomes even sharper and more defined in contrast to the stark whiteness of the bride’s wedding gown. This effect is most dramatic underneath the mid-afternoon sun.  To carry on the rose theme to the rest of your entourage, have your bridesmaids and flower girls wear flowing, pale pink dresses and carry a single bloom.

You can also use these flowers to create a gorgeous, dramatic, heaven-scented atmosphere for your wedding reception.  Have your caterer prepare white table linens and sprinkle the tabletop generously with the velvety red petals.  To use this flower as a simple centerpiece, get a shallow glass bowl, fill it with water, and have rose petals and tea lights float inside.

There are many other things you can do with the petals at a wedding: place a few in each wedding invitation, tuck them into tulle swags, or slip in a single petal in every guest’s glass of champagne.  If you’re holding your wedding reception in a garden, set the mood for love by making a thick carpet of red rose petals that leads to the reception area.

Even women who are not planning a rose-themed wedding adore the rose’s bright red color.  How could you not love them for their ability to compliment the colors in any room?  These flowers simply look gorgeous mixed with pink roses for a very attractive Valentine’s Day red and pink color combination.  You can also mix them with white roses to create a strong contrast between the two colors.  Place your order for Freedom roses and watch the whole world brighten up around you.

Are Ecuador Roses Better Than Philippine Roses ?

December 21st, 2012

Roses are one of the most popular Flowers in the world due to their beauty and deep symbolism. It is said that there is a rose of every color for every person, for every emotion. However, besides being popular for these admirable qualities, roses are also well-known to be one of the more difficult flowers to grow. They need very specific conditions to look and stay at their best. Just one missing requirement and a healthy bush of roses can wither and (if not remedied immediately) die.

Roses thrive best in temperate climates such as the Cotopaxi region of Ecuador. In other words, roses prefer mild climates that are not very prone to extreme changes in seasons or temperature. They can’t stand it if it’s too hot or too cold, and it is only in temperate zones that roses grow most naturally.

Tropical countries, on the other hand, have high temperatures and humidity or moisture content in the air. Examples of tropical countries are the Philippines, Indonesia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Chile and Argentina, to name a few. There are only two seasons: dry, when the temperature reaches record levels during the summer months and wet, when typhoons make their seasonal rounds with heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Given these conditions present in tropical countries, it is no wonder that growing roses here require special attention. Roses are sensitive plants—too much or too little can kill them quite easily. How do rose growers in tropical climates manage to grow them then? Growing roses the natural way requires a lot of manpower and constant attention. The rose grower/s must be on guard all the time to shade the bushes when it becomes too hot, to cover them when it’s raining and to have the pesticide always on hand.

In the Philippines, growing roses are better managed in colder localities such as Tagaytay and Baguio, where temperatures are milder than usual. The environment of such places in the Philippines is similar to temperate climate. Thus, the quality of roses grown is better than in the extreme climates.

Rose growers in tropical countries also use greenhouses in order to grow their roses. In greenhouses, the environment can easily be controlled, thus resulting to less damage on the rose crop and less manpower. The rose grower need not worry about sudden changes in the weather since the flowers are encased in a shelter, protected from pests and excessive rain and heat.

With the help of technology and human ingenuity, roses are now grown all over the world with more ease. Indeed, they have become more beautiful than ever as eternal symbols of love and peace.

Orchids vs. Roses

December 14th, 2012

Orchids spark more emotion in more people than perhaps any other flower.  Yes, many of us might hold roses as the most emotion-inducing flowers.  After all, roses are the flower most associated with romance in our culture.  But in truth, most would consider an orchid to be a much more romantic gift.  Who would not choose an exotic and wild orchid (and often rather expensive orchid) over a typical backyard rose?

There is much more of a culture behind orchids.  There are so many people that are extremely passionate about orchids – whether these people collect and grow phalaenopsis orchids, cymbidium orchids, and dendrobium orchids in their homes, whether they travel around the world taking photos of wild orchids, or whether they spend years of their lives trying to find the perfect hybrid to make a truly black orchid… some people are just crazy about orchids and pursuing them is their life goal!

Of course, you do not have to be absolutely crazy about orchid plants just to love them.  Perhaps you have just one orchid flower that you love and care for dearly.  Or, perhaps you love and care for that orchid flower a little too dearly, and you end up over-fertilizing it or over-watering it.  And, of course, such actions will surely lead to the demise of your beloved orchid plant!

Orchid care can be rather tricky, and sometimes, it seems, only seasoned orchid growers can master proper orchid care.  In truth, though, there are quite a few species of orchids that practically anyone could grow – it is just a matter of providing the right growing conditions and the right orchid care.

Even if you are not growing an orchid plant of your own, you can surely appreciate the beauty of any orchids that you might see in photographs or in another person’s home.  There is just something hypnotic and tantalizing about orchids.

Again, there are likely some of us who prefer roses to orchids, but perhaps this is simply because roses are more common – roses are everywhere – and people have not yet had enough exposure to the beauty of orchid flowers.

Indeed, although there is much more of an orchid-culture than a rose-culture, it seems that references to roses appear in our overall culture much more often.  Just take a look at poetry!  Take a look at tattoos, even!

Nonetheless, the love of orchids is a love that will burn brightly in a culture for as long as orchids still exist.  There are so many different orchids out there in the world, it is practically impossible to not fall in love with at least one species, or type.  After all, there are dendrobium orchids, Thai orchids, white orchids, blue orchids, phalaenopsis orchids, cymbidium orchids, and so many more!

Ecuador Roses

December 5th, 2012

Naturally Grown in the Mountains of Ecuador

High in the mountains of South America grow what may be the most amazing roses on earth — with big, beautiful blossoms and thick, straight stems up to four, five, and six feet tall.

These giant roses aren’t on steroids or genetically modified. The region’s unique climate, soil, and expert flower growers are the secret.

Where the Andes meet the equator, the days are long and sunny. Perfect for growing fresh flowers. Yet, at an elevation of 9,500 feet or more, the climate is surprisingly moderate, with cool nights roses love. Rich volcanic soil completes the perfect recipe for growing what many believe are the world’s finest roses.

But, not every rose can become a super rose, even in these ideal conditions. Special varieties are bred for their exceptional length and blossom size then pampered with special nutrients to help them grow. As they develop, only the very best are selected for the extra growing time necessary to reach their full potential.

The process is painstaking and costly, but these “Russian Cut Roses,” harvested later in the growing cycle, exhibit longer stems, superior vase life, and beautiful blooms 3″ to 4″ in diameter with more than 60 petals each.

The result is the ultimate rose, and the ultimate rose gift. Flown from South America direct to the U.S., these extreme roses make a remarkable impression and are unlike any other roses you’ve ever seen. But, they’re not for the faint of heart. Expect to pay about $250 or more for one dozen super-sized roses with a tall glass vase.

For that special someone, they’re worth every penny. And, don’t be surprised if you receive giant kisses or hugs in return.

Easy Design Flowers supports program to stop Domestic Violence in Ecuador

November 28th, 2012

“Expoflores” a project supported by  GIZ Ecuador produces flowers without violence. In an unprecedented effort over 50 flower farms participated in an outreach campaign by the “International Day Against Violence Against Women.” It delivered more than 10,000 mini bouquets, with a message of optimism and reflection. The events to deliver this message of life through FLOREC campaign took place in the main areas of the country floriculture. Quito was no exception, and participated together with the Municipality of Quito in a massive event. The campaign moved to media, and even the Vice President greeted the sector and their wives, congratulating Expoflores commitment to work on this subject. The challenge has not stopped there.

Between November 25 and December 2 last, a delegation of Magoly Espinosa, Xavier Romero (Expoflores), and Christine Brendel (GIZ), toured Germany, Austria and Holland. The purpose of this trip was to present the work performed in the sector and to buyers in these countries, to generate a commercial peak on that date, to raise awareness to these countries in the struggle to achieve a mutually respectful coexistence. The Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) found particularly important that this proposal is born of Ecuador and Expoflores, a union with which he has worked for several years. The project is to be developed and no doubt that as a nation we face questions about the future business situation with Europe also joined the campaign themselves. However, there is much optimism about the potential of this double FLOREC and generate profit (commercial peak and citizen awareness), mainly due to the confidence of the German government as executed by our guild. Meanwhile … On March 8 arrived. Certainly for many farms is also a huge sales potential, but for others it is an opportunity to publicly recognize the enormous importance of the female labor force is in the process of producing the “world’s best flowers.” Expoflores, together with the GIZ COMVOMUJER program will continue working on those farms with which it has come a way in the awareness and training of various levels of the farm operation. Similarly, being made in the construction and operation of local networks of support for victims of violence, through the actual involvement of public and private funds. Speaking of March, Women’s History Month, we invite you into their companies generate opportunities for reflection on the importance of living in respect within our work environment, and hopefully into our homes. We have some material support, mainly published on the web, to be released in their companies. We are attentive to your contact when required. Future editions will talk about figures of violence and its impact on the industry, but we think beyond numbers and money are all part of a society, in which individual effort finally allows us to live in peace and security.

Love Tips – Make Your Own Modern Wedding Invites

October 21st, 2010

It is already customary to organize for any wedding. Many people would resolve to spare finances for a long period of several months and years just to prepare for a relatively short ceremony that certainly will change their lives forever. And this would definitely include the wedding invitations.

It is the medium which will be used by the couple to tell the world how much they felt for one another. Thus, it should not be thought of as simply a card used to get guests for the wedding!
There are four main elements in a wedding invitation. What are these anyway?

The total tone of a wedding invitation counts on the design, functioning as its blueprint. Traditional wedding invitations are the regular cards with a hardly a defined borderlines, usually assuming the fundamental figures; latest wedding invitations appear in any pattern the couple likes – molded like a tree, a well, a bag, a tea bag, a pair of slippers, and more.

On the other hand, technology is becoming to a greater extent advanced so we have a wide range of fonts available at our doorstep. It does not necessarily have to be perpetually about the scripts. You can look for these fonts on the internet or ask the supplier for examples.

Grand gem shades are the frequent tones and hues now, and they come in a number of tints. It is important however to take note that playing with colors is not unfavorable; just ensure you do not overdo it at any cost.If you are thinking to go modern all the way, make sure you consult a “specialist” prior to making up one’s mind on just about anything.

Traditional wedding invitations are usually embellished with laces – and they are not unfavorable either.Almost all modern wedding invitations otherwise try to shuffle and fit precisely almost anything, such as preserved petals, beadworks, and the like.

The Part About Weddings You Don’t Hear About

October 21st, 2010

We are brought up reading about fairytale weddings, watching them on TV, where nothing goes wrong, the bride looks perfect and everyone has a super time. Reality shows have brought us back down to earth a little, but the behind-the-scenes goings-on at most weddings are not discussed in the open too often. What they don’t tell you about weddings is that even the best plans are ruined by unforeseen circumstances and human nature.

As the bridal couple, you need to understand that things will go wrong no matter how well you have planned your wedding. But because your guests don’t know what you had planned in the first place, they won’t even realize that there are things that are going wrong.

The florist will forget to put flowers in the chapel. The date of your best friend might get drunk and make a fool of himself. Because the door of the room where the wedding cake is stored was left open, the dogs ate a large chunk of it. Your train will have a hole in it because you put the chair on it when you sat down for a while before walking down the aisle. The caterer will have changed the menu at the last moment due to missing ingredients. Your miscreant nephew will try to get his face into every photo taken, and the barman will have forgotten to stock up on your boss’ favorite tipple. Unforeseen weather condition have stifled outdoor wedding plans, ministers have come in late, wedding cakes have been knocked over before the reception has even begun. There have been couples who were mistakenly booked for the smallest hotel room instead of the honeymoon suite because it was already occupied by another couple.

The bridal party, and in particular, the bride and her mother, could let this type of incident ruin an otherwise perfect occasion. Stressing over details that are no longer under your control is not constructive, and the best advice is to take a deep breath, smile and move on. One incident should not be allowed to ruin months of preparation, or affect the rest of your day or night.

What they don’t tell you about weddings is that these things happen. They also don’t tell you that at each of these weddings, the couple did manage to get married despite all the problems. Most of the guests, in fact anyone not involved in the planning, will barely notice most of these problems, and no one will think any less of you for not planning for such circumstances. Most, if not all, of them will enjoy the reception, have a good time and think to themselves, “What a lovely wedding”. You should also try to do exactly just that.

Comparing Wedding Rings that are made from Titanium and Tungsten

September 27th, 2010

Both titanium and tungsten are considered role model alloys in the jewelry industry because they were not available to the consumer market as commodities until ten years ago. They have gained grotesque popularity since the introduction and become an integral part of the jewelry material spectrum.

Due to the rather little exposure, many questions ascend concerning titanium and tungsten when it comes to choosing jewelry. The followings are some stages of consideration if you are seriously thinking or so buying a titanium or tungsten wedding ring.

1. Hardness
Titanium and tungsten are both known for the superior hardness over traditional metals such as gold, silver and platinum. One thing worth noting is that it is not the metals themselves in a pure form that possess the hardness, it is their alloys that do. Roughly speaking, the hardest form of tungsten carbide is harder than titanium alloys, and only under extreme circumstances, such as abrasion from diamonds, can it be damaged.

2. Ductility
Titanium is more tensile than tungsten in the common alloys used in jewelry. In other words, when a wedding ring is under high pressure, such as hit by a car door, a titanium ring would be bend out-of-round whereas a tungsten carbide ring would crack into several pieces. therefore, in ground of safety, a tungsten carbide ring is safer to wear.

3. Hypoallergenic
This is the very same concern as buying silver jewelry to some people: Will I be allergic to the jewellery In general, titanium jewelry is or so safe to wear for everybody. Yet, some tungsten carbide jewelry contains the element cobalt that some people are allergic to. Interesting, another form of tungsten alloy using nickel as a binder metal is hypoallergenic, even to people who are allergic to nickel.

4. Weight
Titanium is lighter than tungsten, or more exactly, has a lower denseness. Titanium alloys are about 43% lighter than stainless steel and tungsten carbide is about 90% heavier than stainless steel.

5. Coloring
Titanium reacts with dissimilar chemicals and produces alloys of different colors. Jewelry makers use anodization to coat colored patterns on titanium rings. Black titanium is another form of titanium alloy that has a different color than the unremarkably used grey color. On the other hand, tungsten carbide is usually offered on in black color only.

6. Pricing
Titanium jewelry is in general cheaper than tungsten jewelry primarily due to the difference in equipment and environment control need to produce them. The temperature for forming a tungsten carbide is about 6000 Fahrenheit, which has to be in either a vacuum or hydrogen environment.

7. Engraving and resizing
Titanium wedding rings can be etched and resized. However, a tungsten carbide ring is too hard to be engraved or resized. Although engraving can be done, the letters will be very faint and tough to read. So if you are buying to ring to engrave, get titanium rings.
